We share the team’s top highlights from this year, and give you a sneaky peek of what’s coming up in early 2017.

Highlight #1 - We achieved the NHS Information Standard!

Following an extensive review process, in October Bloodwise was recognised as a provider of high-quality, reliable health and care information by The Information Standard. This means we’ve proved that our information for patients is evidence-based, peer-reviewed, and produced in partnership with people affected by blood cancer. You'll start seeing the Information Standard quality mark appearing on all of our patient information from January.  As a delightful bonus we got a lovely certificate, which now hangs proudly on the wall at Bloodwise HQ.

Highlight #2 - New information folders and diaries

In May we took delivery of our Patient Information Folders. Designed in partnership with healthcare professionals, the folders keep people's information together, so they can access it quickly whenever and wherever they need it. The outside of the folders was designed to be discreet enought to be taken anywhere, but contact details for Bloodwise are printed inside so people know where they can access more information and support. Our Patient Diaries, which we launched in September, have also been really popular.  Both of these items – like all of our resources for people affected by blood cancer - can be ordered online for free.

Highlight #3 - We're ready to go for next year

We’re in the final stages of developing six brand new fact sheets. Mucositis, Blood Transfusions, What to Expect from Your Appointments, Treatment Decisions, CMML and Hairy Cell Leukaemia will be available online in the New Year. You can also keep a look out for our updated Dietary Advice, Seven Steps: Blood and bone Marrow Transplantation and Clinical Trials booklets, which will also be available in early 2017.

If you're running low on any of our current publications, you can order them here.

Highlight #4 - We've welcomed new team members

We’ve had not one, not two, not three….but four new members join the Bloodwise Patient Info Team this year. There’s me (Lizzy, Patient Information Manager), our new Editorial Officers Esther and Emily (who you may have already ‘met’ on one of our facebook groups, searching for contributors and reviewers) and Afia, who’s responsible for the great customer service you’ll receive when you order information from us.  Which leads me into our final highlight…

Highlight #5 - Working with you!

The whole team has had a fantastic time getting to know our great supporters, Ambassadors and healthcare professionals. We're particularly grateful to everyone who has taken the time to be part of our Nurses Advisory Panel and Facebook groups, and those of you who have generously given your time to review our information - we really couldn't do it without you.

Every piece of information we produce is designed to meet the needs of people affected by blood cancer and the people who work with them. We rely on you to let us know what you think. If you have any ideas or have any feedback, we want to hear from you, so please get in touch with Patient Information
