Daren here. Today was my first ride of the year with the team and what a day we picked for it. We set of at 7:30 and the 50mph winds did not deter us, neither did the roads blocked by fallen trees and powerlines (we only spotted the powerlines afterwards) and we managed to put in 33 miles on a loop starting from Witham, Essex and heading through Braxted, Great Totham, Tiptree, Heybridge Basin, Maldon, Hatfield Peveral (and the lovely Peartree Tea Rooms) then Terling and home.
A tough ride but great fun and less than a mile from home when James Burns caught some crosswind and reared up like a stallion befor becoming more closely acquainted with the road! Thankfully, the only damage was superficial apart from that to his clothing and helmet:
That's why we wear them folks! Quite a few encouraging toots from passing cars was nice :-)
