Rebecca was seven months old when she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in August 2007.

She began treatment immediately at Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Yorkhill and fortunately she is now in remission.

Mum Kerry says: “Rebecca’s a wee character – she started school in August and she absolutely loves it. When she gets a cold or a temperature I start to panic but she doesn’t stress.

She knows about the fundraising we do for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and she met Ian Botham when he visited Glasgow in 2008.

If it wasn’t for the money people raise towards research I might have had to take my wee girl home to die and it’s thanks to the advance that have been made over the past 50 years that we now lead a normal life, but there is still a lot of work still to be done.”
