The Reluctant Cyclist

I don't like cycling - I'd rather ride a motorbike. However I commute 3 miles to work on a bike most days (it's cheaper than the bus) and I like a challenge. So when the Bikeathon invitation appeared I thought "why not?"

Why not? Well the thought of pain and discomfort was my initial thinking. However it's a good cause, I haven't done anything like this for a while, so again, "why not?"

So here we are 4 weeks after signing up and I've borrowed a bike for my son, bought him a helmet and we've done 3 training runs. He's younger and fitter than me but hasn't done much cycling, so we are about evenly matched. The 2 consistent elements about our training runs are 1) someone's chain always comes off at some point, 2) post run coffee and croisant. I'm sure nutrition will play a bigger part as we get closer to the day.

Next is more training aranged around GCSEs - watch this space.
