Riding 40 miles clean

Yesterday evening I spent three hours on the stationary bike and got up to forty miles, which I'm really pleased with. I know that it will be harder to go that distance once I'm outside, but it's a good indicator that I should be able to ride the fifty come September.

When I'm inside, I also have the luxury of watching films as I go, and what could be more apposite, I thought, than the The Armstrong Lie? The themes in the documentary, and indeed Lance Armstrong's life, of money, cancer, cycling and blood are all very pertinent when you consider this is a fundraising page for a charity bikeathon, in aid of research into beating blood cancers!

I may not be anywhere near as fast as Lance, but at least I rode my 40 miles clean...

HI Kate,

Absolutely love that you cycled watching that documentary!!! Imagine it made you pedal that little bit harder. Sounds like you're well on track training wise although do make sure you get out on the roads for a couple of bursts before the big day.

I hope that the fundraising is going well, too, and look forward to seeing you in September. Together we will beat blood cancer!

Thanks for your words of encouragement Andy! I got out on an 11 miler this Saturday, and will be doung a 25 miler this Sunday - I was glad for the variety, but not too chuffed with all the gravel - here's hoping the bikeathon will be on lovely smooth tarmac!
