Hit the road early for breakfast on Lindau island watching a Zeppelin circling overhead.Travelled up the North side of Bodensee ( Lake Constance) then caught the ferry from Meersburg to Konstanz .On south side ventured on the the mediaeval town of Stein Am Rhein - stunning architecture and many murals on the houses.Finished our day at A Schaffenhausen after completing 64 miles.
Day 6 -
Early start to catch the Rhine falls in all there glory ( largest waterfall by volume in Europe ) .From there proceeded onto Koblenz where we followed the wrong river ( Aare ) due to poor signage .Ended up in Dottingen then had to catch train to Waldschutt over the border in Germany to get back to start of stage . From here to Bad Sackingden and crossed the oldest covered wooden bridge over river to a wooded area around Rheinfelden where two punctures later arrived in Basle in the dark covering 82 miles ( our longest run so fat ).
Day 7 -
Set off from Basel after visit to cycle shop for more inner tubes .Found way of Basel eventually taking us to France and the Rhone Canal route which had long forest sections with good paths .
On target to get to Strasbourg following arrow straight canal cycle until Jim had puncture after Maginot Line. Unfortunently this put us behind and we ended up 12 miles short of Strasbourg at Erstein .
