On Saturday 25th July we launched our charity partnership with Skydive Hibaldstow with Skydive to Beat Blood Cancer Day! We had eight inspirational skydivers jumping from 15,000ft - the highest skydive in the UK!

We had jumpers of all ages, with the youngest being Jack aged 17, and jumpers that travelled quite some distance for the thrill with Josh travelling from Leeds, and Victoria all the way from Bedfordshire!

After the pre-jump induction our brave skydivers got suited and harnessed up before climbing 15,000ft ready to jump out of the plane.

Hannah Dunkerley Branch Secretary is behind the skydive to beat blood cancer project and was thrilled with the first skydive fundraising day.

"There was a mixture of nerves and excitement as people arrived at the event ready for their induction.

As the adrenaline fuelled individuals fell from the sky there were many cheers from their friends and family they had brought along to support their mission to help beat blood cancer. All of the jumpers raised fantastic amounts of money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research."

The event even saw a special celebrity supporter. Chris Chittell who plays Eric Pollard in Emmerdale came along to support friend Jack and the other skydivers jumping from 15,000ft to help beat blood cancer.

Emily Crawford (17) of Winteringham was among those jumping and recommended the experience to anyone considering it.

"I've supported the work of the charity since I was at school and I wanted to get involved myself, so when I saw the skydive advertised I thought it would be a great thing to do!

I was absolutely terrified on the day but it was an incredible experience, and one I'd 100% recommend it to anybody who is thinking about giving it a go!"

So far over £2,200 has been raised in sponsorship with the total expected to grow!

With the skydive to beat blood cancer partnership officially launched, the branch are keen to encourage people wanting to give skydiving a go to get in touch. We offer skydives at a discounted price of £200 and if a minimum of £400 is raised we'll reimburse your jump cost!
