To say that I haven't really trained too well for this event is an understatement!! With one thing or another goin on, I've only managed 3 training rides up to now.
So I decided to cycle into work yesterday to get a few more miles under my belt. The way in was great, hardly any traffic, nice sunny morning and an average speed of 16mph for just under 10 miles of cycling. Happy with that I thought. Then came the ride home. Oh man, not until I got on the bike did I realise that a force 10 gale was blowing across the Midlands at just the time I wanted to pedal home!! Needless to say that by the time I got back home, I was proper blowing out of my backside and needed more than a few moments to recover!! However after a little bit of sitting down and a protein shake, I took stock of my achievements for the day (namely cycling to and from work) and felt pretty pleased with myself. That was until reality hit me and I realised I'd only cycled 20 miles in total and I would still have a further 32 miles to go to the finish line!!
However, onwards and upwards, the training will continue and the goal on the day of 52 miles will be reached!! What's keeping me going..........the knowledge that I'm helping people who are a lot worse of than me, even if its only a tiny bit!!
