Small Change, BIG Impact 2014

Thank you to everyone who has supported our Small Change, BIG Impact campaign, which this year ran from the 13-21 September.

We have again been amazed by the generosity of our supporters, across the length and breadth of the UK, who have come out and supported the campaign in so many different ways.

The Regional Fundraising team would like to thank our Branches and Fundraising Groups, our volunteers, researchers and colleagues for giving up their time to help at can collections and supermarket bag packs across the UK. We would also like to thank all our supporters who organised their own fundraising events over the week and a huge thank you to the general public for their generosity and support.

Here is a little bit of what took place over the week…

In the South West, we had 15 can collections take place and our Bristol Fundraising Group each cycled over 100 miles, whilst collecting at Cribbs Causeway Shopping Centre and raised a staggering £800.

In the South East, we had volunteers, Branches, staff, schools and bowls clubs involved. There were street collections, supermarket collections, bake sales, haircuts, and open-mic nights. Pictured is Lucy Jelley, who had her hair cut in a pixie cut and sold cakes at her workplace.

In Wales, we had 24 activities throughout the week and we had many volunteers, old and new, give up their time to collect at supermarkets and town centres, pack bags at checkouts, as well as organising cake sales.

In the Midlands, research teams in Birmingham and Sheffield hosted collections at New Street Station, Birmingham and in Sheffield city centre where they spoke to many people about their work whilst raising money for the campaign.

In the North of England, we had supermarket collections, collections in our research cities, bake sales, hairdressers with collection tins, and awareness stalls, to name just a few of the events taking place!

In Scotland, we had a busy week full of collections, bag packs, cake sales, coffee mornings, zip sliding and bingo! Pictured above is our own Emma Boffey out collecting at Sainsbury’s Edinburgh, where Emma raised an amazing £860.

September is a really busy month for the whole charity and thank you to all staff who gave up time to help out at our London tube collections. Thank you to everyone involved who helped to make this year’s Small Change, BIG Impact a huge success.

Great blog Stuart!

Fantastic to read about all the incredible work that the regional branches and teams are doing alongside all our amazing supporters. They're the lifeblood of the charity and we're so lucky to have them.

Sounds like Small Change, BIG Impact went really well and I can't wait to find out how we got on in terms of fundraising and spreading awareness.

It was a great but tiring day! The people who donated in Cribbs a Causeway were extremely generous and very supportive. Many thanks to the rest of the team who I dragged along for the day and all our helpers who were armed with were all fabulous!

Great to see so many people taking part and would love to know what the total was, cross fingers last years was smashed!
