Bikeathon vs Icebucket

My occasional bike rides around the block (aka my intense Bikeathon training programme) have taken a back-seat during the past week or so as first I took Ethan camping for a few days before spending the weekend with him at Legoland. As it has turned out these have really toughened me up for the trials ahead but I doubt that will prove to be of any benefit to my cycling capabilities. I can't talk about the camping trip without my back seizing up again and why they built Legoland on the side of a mountain is beyond me. I think Ethan really enjoyed himself though and in the tradition of 8 year olds across the world, he seemed happily oblivious of my distress.

To my continued amazement, I have received even more sponsorship during this last week. I have truly learned how wonderful and generous people can be during the build-up to this Bikeathon event. So a very special thank you to Pam Elliott, Clare Adkins, Debbie Kelly (yet another Kelly girl), and another anonymous sponsor. She may be 'Lucky' having escaped the icebucket challenge but thank you so much. Once again I have found talking to my sponsors or reading their comments to be quite inspirational and I know I cannot let these wonderful people down.

Emma's friend Zena Simms passed away at the end of last week after suffering with cancer of the pancreas and I send my condolences to her husband Derek and family. I've said before that I am doing this ride in memory of my Dad, my brother Alan, and my good friend Dave Elliott (Pam's husband). I am also doing this ride in support of my wife Chris who continues her fight against cancer having previously beaten Non Hodgkin Lymphoma. But I now dedicate this ride to Zena.

Thanks again everyone and take care.
Kind regards,
Graham
