Wickes Tottenham Store Manager Raj Patel (pictured on right with Sir Ian Botham) inspired his region to smash their target.

Raj took on the challenge to be the charity representative for his region of 13 Wickes Stores in the London area. Throughout the year Raj motivated his regional colleagues in a variety of ways and kept them excited about fundraising. Raj gave them monthly targets to meet and encouraged them to come up with fundraisers that were of particular interest to their specific store and kept in touch with them throughout the year to offer support. Fundraising events that the stores found successful included a BBQ, skydive, raffle and store collections.

Additionally Raj found it helpful to produce quarterly updates to all colleagues letting them know what was working in other stores and how they were doing against their targets. By keeping everyone excited about fundraising and engaged throughout the year Raj helped every store in the Region exceed their fundraising targets.

By the end of the year, Raj’s Region raised £30,981.09 - almost three times the figure that they raised the previous year!

Raj told us, “I’m incredibly proud of what Wickes Region 7 has achieved in 2010 with fundraising. We have all been touched by a member of our team who has had a blood cancer and want to do what we can to support research to get rid of these terrible diseases.”

Wickes has been a phenomenal corporate partner for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, raising £1.6million since October 2006 for vital research into blood cancer. We certainly appreciate all the hard work and support Wickes and Raj have given us.
