This Sunday I had the pleasure of visiting Tenbury Town Band, who has raised an amazing £2,000 in memory of Lorraine Gray’s husband Sean, who was diagnosed with leukaemia in June 2012. After many tests and treatments Sean had a bone marrow transplant, which was successful and he seemed well on the way to recovery. Sadly he lost his fight for life at the end of October 2013 at the age of 44.
The Band chose to support Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research when Sean was making progress through his treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. They now hope that the money raised will help others beat blood cancer in the future.
The group decided to hold a Charity Christmas Concert, which was a sell out with a raffle, and a memorable performance of ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’, which I’m informed, is well worth a look on YouTube.
On a very blustery and cold January afternoon it was lovely to meet such a friendly group of supporters and to listen to some music in the making.
