Last Friday, we joined corporate partner Dransfield Properties Limited for a fantastic visit to the Sheffield research centre, for a presentation of the company’s wonderful fundraising total from 2014, and to hear about the vital blood cancer work taking place in Sheffield.
The company and their Team Dransfield cyclists are long term supporters of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, through their Tour of Europe Ride, which started in 2007 and sees the team complete a leg of this epic ride each year.
In their 2014 ride in September, the 19-strong team of riders covered 400 miles from Trieste in Munich and climbing 14,000 ft. into the Alps before finishing their challenge in Munich. The company support a number of charities in their challenge, with over £50,000 raised by Team Dransfield in 2014 alone.
We were delighted to be presented with a cheque for £16,926.66 on the day, and thanks to additional donations since the writing of the presentation cheque, the 2014 total for Leukaemia & Lymphoma now stands at an amazing £17,952.11.
Along with members of Team Dransfield and the research team, we were joined by PDR Construction, who also took part in this year’s ride, and the Grimsby & District Branch, great supporters and followers of Team Dransfield’s long standing fundraising.
We had a fascinating visit with the myeloma research team in Sheffield, hearing about their incredible work. With talks, demonstrations, a visit around the labs, and an opportunity to talk to people impacted by fundraising like Team Dransfield’s, it was an extremely inspiring day!
Mark Dransfield, Managing Director of Dransfield Properties Ltd, said: “It was fantastic to meet the team in Sheffield undertaking vital work in the treatment and cure of blood cancers. Seeing what our fundraising efforts help to support is certainly something which helps us over those tough hills climbs.
“We’d like to thank everyone who sponsored and supported us in the 2014 challenge – we really do appreciate every penny that is donated.”
The team are now busy planning the 2015 ride which is planned to take the team from last year’s finish point in Munich to the German capital of Berlin.
Many thanks to Team Dransfield and to all who’ve supported them in their Tour of Europe Ride. This ongoing support of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is greatly appreciated, and they are making a fantastic contribution to our work to beat blood cancer, including the ground breaking work we all saw first-hand on our Sheffield tour.
A big thank you too to Dr Shelly Lawson, Dr Andrew Chantry and their team at the Sheffield centre for organising such an interesting and valued visit.
