"To make a difference and a tribute to my Mum & Sister"

Ruth Willott

Some people train so that they can race. I race so that I can train and in doing so take on challenges of a lifetime. Last year, I took on the challenge of cycling from London to Paris. I was blessed to be amongst a community of riders, each of whom had a unique, brave and inspiring story – many overcoming physical frailties in order to demonstrably give something back to the researchers and healthcare workers who have battle to not only save lives, but to improve quality of life by finding even more efficacious treatments, diminishing side effects, providing psychological support to patients and families - the list goes on and on! In riding with such courageous heroes, I have to be grateful for the fact that I have four working limbs, two functional lungs and an indefatigable circulatory system that transports red cells, white cells and platelets, all of which are in the correct proportions. However, my loyalties and sympathies lie with those who are not so fortunate to enjoy such good health and I aim to demonstrate this by once again cycling from London to Paris and in doing so raise money for this worthy cause.

Sue Storey

This is a huge challenge for me that will force me to leave behind the stress of my life with 2 sets of twins and a full time job to get out on the bike more. And have the added benefit of doing something great for charity. I have got the cycling bug and can't wait to spend time on my bike, this gives me the perfect excuse to say no to housework and yes to cycling. I can't wait for the event but equally I am looking forward to a summer of cycling to train and I am sure a lifetime memory.
