Ten days to go…

… to our first 80km challenge! How exciting! However, we are also faced with our first little hiccup: I’m injured. My right hand got trapped behind the automatic door on the bus. It happened so quickly that I didn’t even have time to react, let alone get out of the way. Too many people, too little space and, most worryingly, no mechanism to stop the door from moving. Luckily, nothing is broken and the damage only superficial, so I should be OK for the race next weekend. *Big sigh of relief* However, I am to avoid all strain and movement for several days which is obviously not very convenient. As final preparations for the race along the Alpine foothills next Sunday we had planned to do some interval training during the week and two long distance rides over the weekend. Which I was told not to do. Still, we secretly sneaked out for a little outing to see how I would feel on the bike, but alas, it’s a no go. Using my hand, in particular the index finger to brake is just too painful. And, not being able to brake properly is simply too dangerous, especially with all these hills and downhills here. So, it seems that my only exercise over the next few days will be watching football on telly.  And, weather permitting, swimming in one of the gorgeous lakes around Munich. Admittedly, things could be worse…

Fingers crossed (yours, not mine I’m afraid...) I’m back on the bike next week and fighting fit for the race on the 29th. Stay tuned for further details on our first challenge! In the meantime you can help us make some progress with our fundraising - we have collected a whopping £1250, but there is still some way to go, so please spread the word and keep them pennies coming. We would like also to say a BIG thank you to all of you who have supported us so far! xxx
