We have had a great start to 2014 at the Winterton and District Branch and one of the very excting pieces of news is that Tesco is choosing to support our branch!!

Winterton will see a new Tesco strore arrive in the town at the start of February and the store plans to support our branch! The stores official opening event will take place on Tuesday 4th February when we will receive a cheque for £250 from Tesco. The store will be taking collection tubs to go on the counters and also has other plans to support us in the future including having the The Big Copper Count-Up in the store later in the year! We would like to thank Tesco for supporting our branch! Below is the full story as seen on our website!

EVERY LITTLE HELPS TWO LOCAL WINTERTON CHARITIES

A new convenience store opening in Winterton next month will celebrate its launch with two £250 donations to local charities.

Representatives from the Winterton Lions and Winterton and District Branch for Leukaemia and Lymphoma, will be the guests of honour when the new Tesco Express store opens, Tuesday 4th February, on King Street, Winterton, they will be invited to cut a ribbon to declare the new store officially open.

Store manager, Matthew Barlow and his team will present Don Johnson - Vice President of the Winterton Lions club and Daniel Redhead from the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research each with a two cheque for £250 as part of its commitment to supporting the local community.

The Winterton Lions work alongside the council to support local charities and deserving causes in Winterton and the surrounding districts.

The Winterton and District Branch for Leukaemia and Lymphoma research aims to raise funds to support Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research in its area. The organisation runs events and fundraisers to add to the constantly growing branch total. This happens through the commitment and dedication of a fundraising team primarily made up of a group of young people who are inspired to beat blood cancers by enthusiastically helping with the running and manning of events in order to make them as successful as possible raising vital funds for vital research.

Matthew said: “My team and I appreciate that the Winterton Lions and the Winterton and District for Leukaemia and Lymphoma do such wonderful work in the local area, and are delighted to be able to invite the representatives to launch our store and receive a donation. We look forward to building a strong working relationship within the local community and supporting local projects which directly benefit the Winterton community.
My team and I are looking forward to opening the doors on Tuesday. I am proud to be playing a part, along with my team, in breathing new life into the heart of the local community” Added Matthew.
The doors of the new Tesco Express, on King Street, open for the first time at 8am on Tuesday 4th February, with the official opening ceremony and cheque presentation taking place later that morning at 10.30am.

Store opening hours will be seven days a week from 6am until 11pm, and for added convenience the store will have a free cash machine, two self-service tills,  mobile phone top-up facility, National Lottery counter, bakery, beers, wines and spirits.  Parking is also available in front of the store.

Not only are Tesco supporting our branch by donating at their opening event, but the store has already agreed to have the Big Copper Count-Up on their premises and have other plans for the future to support out branch.
