A group of school pupils from the United Arab Emirates have raised £950 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research after running a week- long leukaemia awareness campaign at their school.
Together the year 11 students from Ras Al Khaimah English Speaking School held awareness assemblies and a number of fundraising activites including bake sales, ribbon selling and a non-uniform day.
The pupils were inspired to start the campaign after a close friend of year 11 student Inti Iqbal was diagnosed with leukaemia in May. Inti and her friends were determined to offer their support and approached the school headmaster for permission to launch the week- long campaign for their 600 fellow students in years 5-12.
In recognition of the commitment and initative displayed by Inti, she has been given a special award from the school.
