Our November recipient is Stephen Muir. Stephen recently took part in the Men's Health Survival of the Fittest and has raised over £1000 in the process!
It’s a highly impressive 10k run with a twist, it involves numerous challenges that you have to overcome in gruelling conditions. In true ‘Unstoppable’ spirit Stephen completed the event in a very respectable 1h18minutes and 18 seconds. It’s even more impressive when he had to overcome over 50 obstacles in the process!
Stephen felt compelled to fundraise for our charity when his close friend Tim was diagnosed with Leukaemia in September 2011 and had a bone marrow transplant in December 2011.
'When my good friend Tim was diagnosed with Leukaemia I felt determined to raise money for a charity to try and help awareness. Tim chose LLR as it's a charity driven to beat this awful disease. Hopefully the money will help towards this and also increase awareness. Please can people take the simple, painless stem cell tests and donations to help in the battle'
Tim is still fighting the leukaemia and we all wish him the very best in his recovery. Thanks to fundraisers like Stephen rapid progress is being made in blood cancer research. You can view and donate on Stephen’s online fundraising page.
