Walk to beat blood cancer
Join us in Wales for one of our new walks. Whether it's a 7 mile walk around the Newport Wetlands or a gentle stroll around Cosmeston Lakes at our very first balloon walk - there's something for everyone to enjoy over the spring months.
This year we have some new walks taking place in Wales. After our successful spring walk at Brecon Canal in 2016 we decided that we wanted to organise more of these events to help raise funds to beat blood cancer.
We will be holding our Tenby Winter Walk this weekend and have over 100 people signed up despite the weather and we are hoping that our other two walks will be as successful.
This year we will be holding the very first balloon walk in Cosmeston Lakes on Saturday 25th March at 4pm. Taking place at dusk, you will walk the 5 mile route around the lake with your glowing balloon and be part of a very special event. We won't be releasing the balloons due to the wildlife in the area, but the vision of walkers with their glowing balloons will be a lovely sight. As an added bonus, Light up the Lakes is completely FREE to enter! You MUST enter in advance and we ask that you raise as much sponsorship as possible - this is the only way that we can continue to fund research for blood cancer patients - every penny you raise will count towards this. To replace our Spring Walk we are holding a 7 mile walk at Newport Wetlands on Sunday 30th of April. This circular walk will take you through some of the wetlands and out into the countryside around the reserve. It's not an easy walk, be prepared to walk across muddy fields but it's well worth it to see a completely different part of the city that most people don't know exist!
