Progress and pitfalls

I’ve been riding to work on and off for about a year now (my first ride in FELT like it took a year too……….), steadily increasing the amount of times I ride in, admittedly totally neglecting the bike if there was a dark could in the sky and all but running for the hills if it actually was raining. Up to signing up for the Bikeathon I’ve not had any problems at all. However, SINCE I’ve signed up………………….nightmare

Anyhoo, ignoring the bruised shin, dangerous drivers and the building work near my office turning the last mile into an avoidance obstacle course of general rubbish/ broken glass/ screws and nails the training over the last week hasn’t gone too badly. I’ve managed to cycle into work every day clocking up an impressive (to me anyway!) 76ish miles over Monday to Friday. However, the rain was ‘persistent’ over the weekend so I was unable to commit to my usual longer distance ride leading me to the drastic decision to have to commit more time during the week when I get home. The grand plan continues, weather permitting, and I intend to up the miles over the coming week. I also intend keeping up with this blog (and trying to keep it mildly amusing AND update it on Sunday evenings as promised) and attempt to conquer my fear of cycling in the rain….
