A Woodford Green resident has launched a cookbook filled with easy to make meals to raise money for blood cancer charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
Foodie Lesley Morris, from Park Avenue, was inspired to create the special recipe book Easy Entertaining, Simply Served after she and a group of her tennis club friends were discussing recipes over a post-match glass of wine.
Lesley says: "Over the years our conversation has often revolved around our favourite recipes and the difficulty of coming up with new, quick and tasty recipes for our families. But after the second glass of wine we would forget each others suggestions so one day I just decided that I would collect these recipes together and raise some money for charity along the way!"
Lesley has since collected recipes from friends and family for over 80 must-try meals and with the help of her friend Tony Martinez, an amateur photographer, has put together a stunning cookbook that covers starters, mains and puddings as well as a special ‘home from work’ section.
"The idea is really just to give people simple, easy, home-cooked ideas, nothing too fancy - we’re not trying to be Gordon Ramsay – just meals that anyone can put together whatever their ability. The photos are fantastic and I’ve made each of the recipes myself at least twice so I can safely say they are delicious and easy for anyone to make – the perfect gift for Christmas!" says Lesley.
G.R.Wright & Sons, the Enfield based Flour Millers where Lesley works as Finance Director, are covering the cost of publication, allowing all proceeds from the sale of the book to go to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Current Managing Director, David Wright, sadly lost his father Ken to leukaemia only a few years after retirement, and Lesley’s husband Clive is currently being treated for chronic lymphocytic leukaemia after being diagnosed with the disease 15 years ago.
Emily Wainwright, Community Support Manager at Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, says: "Easy Entertaining, Simply Served is a lovely cookbook with lots of inspiring ideas and we are so grateful to Lesley and her team of friends, family and colleagues for donating the proceeds to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research – the money raised really will save lives. I’ve already snapped up a copy so what are you waiting for? Get cooking!"
Buy a copy and get cooking! The book is £10 and all proceeds go to the charity.
