You can change the world: searching for our new Chair

Today's an important day for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, as we launch our search for a Chair of the Board of Trustees.

In 53 years it's the first time that we've been through a formal appointment process for a Chair and we've chosen to work with Saxton Bampfylde who we believe have the experience and empathy to help us find the right person for this vitally important role.

I have been privileged to be a Trustee for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research for seven years and over that time the Charity has made significant progress.

Our CEO, Cathy Gilman has been instrumental in our development. She has put in place a high quality management team and we have developed a strategy that places patients at the heart of everything we do. This allows us to invest in the best clinical and translational researchers, fast track clinical trials and to embrace new technologies to improve blood cancer patients’ quality and length of life.

However, there is still much to do.

We need to ensure the structure of our Board of Trustees is appropriate for the challenges ahead. To help us do that, we require a Chair who has drive, experience and can be an impressive ambassador for LLR. After 53 years of hard work and investment, we are now getting excitingly close to cures for many blood cancers, but we operate in a highly competitive environment. We need to gain greater visibility and impact to grow our investment in research and patient activities over the next few years.

Saxton Bampfylde will be handling all applications but we wanted to ensure that we gave our supporters the opportunity to consider the role too. It's a voluntary role that requires the equivalent of two days a month and you will see from the recruitment pack that it requires, experience, energy and a passion to put good back into the world.

If you feel you can commit some of your time for our hugely worthwhile cause, have a look at the recruitment pack where you’ll find further information and guidance on the application process.
