In the run-up to Father's day, we'd really love to hear your dad stories! Do you have a dad who is simply awesome? Please tell us about him here so we can include him in our special gallery of great dads.

On Fathers' Day we'll also pick one awesome dad to win a copy of The Joy of Sheds from our online shop, a fun book exploring every man's need for a little space of his own.

To start off, I'll tell you why I think my dad is awesome.

My dad, Tim, is a political animal and has taught me the importance of passion and standing up for what I believe in. I don't think I would be working for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and helping to beat blood cancer without him teaching me that your own life is better when you help improve things for other people. As I was growing up I saw my dad invite homeless people off the street and into our home for dinner, cook enormous amounts of soup for local food banks, open a gallery to support local artists and, time after time, speak out as a voice of support for those who couldn't make their voices heard. My dad doesn't stay quiet and he doesn't shut up. He speaks up against injustice wherever he finds it. I'm proud to have inherited some of that attitude from him.

My dad continues to support everything I do. When I challenged him on Pledgeit recently he emailed everyone he knew, asking them to support Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and try to make the challenge happen by making a pledge. He contacted the local council numerous times as well as all the local press. Unfortunately despite his hard work he couldn't complete the challenge. But what I love about my dad is he doesn't stop, he keeps fighting and he'll get up and battle for his cause another day. That's why my dad is my hero.

Is your dad a hero too? Please tell us about him.
