Our annual evening of festive entertainment at the Royal Albert Hall will feature Ore Oduba, Gaby Roslin and Helen George

Performers on stage at the Royal Albert Hall

Seasonal cheer will abound on 5 December when we hold our annual evening of festive entertainment at the Royal Albert Hall. Christmas with the Stars returns with a stellar line-up of guests and performers who are generously helping us to fund vital research into blood cancer.

Our bill features lots of television personalities, including Gaby Roslin, Duncan Bannatyne and Dr Ranj Singh. Fans of the small and big screen will also recognise Tony award-winning actor Tom Conti, Poldark’s Heida Reed, star of Emmerdale and The Royal Natalie Anderson, and Call the Midwife actor Helen George.

Audience members can enjoy plenty of Christmas songs and carols and singing along is very much encouraged. Musical performers on the night will include Edward Hyde, who was crowned BBC Young Chorister of the Year in 2016, and identical twin sopranos Classical Reflection. Frank Renton, presenter of Radio 2’s Listen to the Band, will be accompanied by his very own Brass Machine and the grand organ of the Royal Albert Hall.

Performer spotlight: Ore Oduba

After proving popular at last year’s event, Ore Oduba will return to the stage this year. The multi-talented TV presenter and winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2016 is joined on the bill by fellow former Strictly contestants Helen George, Joe McFadden and John Sergeant.

Ore Oduba. The Strictly Come Dancing star features at Christmas with the Stars to help fund blood cancer research

We’re thrilled to announce that Ore will be treating the audience to an exclusive performance alongside Strictly professional Luba Mushtuk. Ore and Luba have developed their routine with help from the programme's award-winning Director of Choreography Jason Gilkison. Here’s a word from the man himself:

"I had such a fabulous time at Christmas with the Stars in 2016. It's a great night that also raises important funds for an incredible cause. I've seen how people's generosity really does help Bloodwise change lives. So it's an honour for me to attend again and especially to perform on the Royal Albert Hall stage.”

Our Ambassador's perspective

Our Ambassador Melody Berthoud attended the event last year with her family. Melody’s son, Andrew, was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukaemia in 2012 and required three and a half years of treatment and chemotherapy before he was given the all-clear. Melody is a committed and active Bloodwise supporter and was the face of our 2016 winter campaign.

Here’s how she describes her experience at Christmas with the Stars 2016:

“Our experience was out of this world. It was an honour to meet the Calendar Girls and then for the children to meet, dance with and be photographed with the Strictly stars from 2016.

I loved the variety of people who not only performed but introduced acts, each with their story to tell of how this wonderful charity has touched them on a personal level.

The children loved the Disney Choir and were wowed by Dr Ranj’s singing. I felt a bit giddy seeing Alex Kingston and on meeting the wonderful and very charming Ore Oduba.”
