We’ve had a brilliant start to 2018 already. Supporters right across the UK who took on our Lose the Booze challenge in January raised over £7,000. Our Great North Run places are selling fast, and we’ve been in touch with lots of new and regular supporters as they start to plan their fundraising activities for the year. We’re so grateful to all of you for your continued support, dedication and passion.

Let’s stay in touch

As a supporter, you’re at the heart of everything we do. We’d love to keep you updated about our exciting work and the ways you can help, including campaigns and events that you might be interested in. We promise to respect your privacy and we will never sell or swap your details.

To let us know how we can contact you, please update your contact preferences online or contact us by phone on 0207 504 2215 or email at

We’ll be sending the Spring edition News from the North in April, and through opting in to receive our email communications you’ll continue to receive News from the North.

Are you up to the challenge?

We have a wide selection of sporting and outdoor activities taking place across the North for all the family, including our York Balloon Walk on Sunday 18th March. You can walk, run, trek and cycle to beat blood cancer. Read our round of up events in the North this year.

Share your special day with Bloodwise

Whether it’s a graduation, wedding or retirement, asking people to donate, or giving on their behalf, is a fantastic way to celebrate your special day and support vital blood cancer research.

Elfie, a haematology nurse in Leeds, and her husband Adam, who lost his auntie to leukaemia, chose to support Bloodwise through their wedding day by using our wedding favours. Elfie has written a blog about why her and Adam decided to use Bloodwise wedding favours for their big day. Read Elfie’s blog.

Find Me a Cure

Earlier this month, BBC aired Find Me a Cure, a radio documentary which follows the patients and doctors involved in the clinical trial CLARITY for a year. The trial was funded by Bloodwise and run by Prof Peter Hillmen in Leeds. Early results from the CLARITY trial, for patients with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), have been extremely promising and all patients have responded to the treatment combination of venetoclax and ibrutinib. For more about our recent research achievements, read our 2017 research highlights.

Impact Day North

Impact Day will once again be heading North, and this year it will be held in September as part of Blood Cancer Awareness Month. The event will offer the opportunity to hear all about Bloodwise and how our work is impacting the blood cancer community. Watch out for further updates and see the photos from our 2017 event on our Facebook page.

Best wishes from Catriona and Lauren.
