In 2015 we were delighted to welcome some familiar faces - and some less familiar! - to Christmas with the Stars.
Register your interest for Christmas with the Stars 2016 to make sure you don't miss a fabulous festive evening!
Sydenham High School Choir
The Sydenham High School choir has a very busy rehearsal and concert schedule, wowing audiences around the country. They’ve performed in prestigious venues like St John’s Smith Square, St Martin in the Fields, Cadogan Hall, Fairfield Halls in Croydon, Blackheath Concert Halls, the Grand Metropolitan Lodge in Covent Garden and at the Mansion House for the Lord Mayor of London. These performances have been combined with a string of national and local music festival competition successes.
They have provided children’s choirs on numerous occasions for large scale choral works, including Monteverdi’s Vespers, Britten’s St Nicholas, Fanshaw’s African Sanctus and Karl Orff’s Camina Burana, as well as joining forces with parents, staff and friends to perform some of the great choral classics.
In the last four years, tours to Venice, Salzburg and Tuscany have been hugely successful. This year the choir toured Estonia, where they were received to packed venues and great acclaim: “Sydenham High School choir are Britain’s real cultural ambassadors: no-one would stand up applauding with tears in their eyes for an adult attache!”
The Sydenham High School choirs are conducted by Caroline Lenton-Ward (Choral Director) and accompanied by Andrew Baars (Director of Music).
They have released two CDs – Joyfully Sing and Choral Flourish – both available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Disney Voices Choir
This year we’re welcoming the Disney Voices Choir for their first performance at Christmas with the Stars.
The Disney Voices Choir was formed in October 2014, consisting of employees from across the Disney company who love to sing. Intended simply to perform at the annual Disney Employee Forum in January 2015, the 60-strong choir’s rendering of The Lion King’s iconic Circle of Life was so well received that the Disney Voices Choir decided to continue. Since then they’ve performed songs from Frozen at St Pancras International station and from Frozen, Aladdin, Lion King and Tangled for Disney Cruise Lines in Dover. They have also sung at the flagship Oxford Street Disney Store for VIP Christmas charity events, and at the Hammersmith Summer Festival. The choir goes from strength to strength and is looking forward to more exciting opportunities in the future.
Emma Taylor, the Disney Voices Musical Director, has performed in many West End musicals including Les Miserables and Chicago, and also as a backing singer with the likes of Kylie Minogue , the Spice Girls and Eric Clapton. She’s a respected vocal coach, most recently working with the cast of West End musical Matilda, and is Head of Singing at Radley College, Oxford.
