Join the High Hopes Hike Team in 2017

The High Hopes Hike is a themed 13-mile hike for Bloodwise Scotland taking place in absolutely stunning and breath-taking setting of the Glencoe mountains in Scotland.
This event is free to register for however do ask that everyone taking part sets up a Just Giving page and raises a minimum of £100 for Bloodwise Scotland.
The 12.8 mile trek will set off from Bridge of Orchy to Kings House, Glencoe, Scotland and will pass through Rannoch Moor following good tracks for almost the entire day. The trek will start initially following an old Military Road uphill through woodland to reach superb views over Loch Tulla from the summit of Mam Carraigh. A short and easy descent will then follow down to the Inveroran Hotel where there will be time for lunch.
Following this some road walking leads to the start of Telfords old road across the Black Mount where Grand views unfold over the expanse of Rannoch Moor to the east and the mountains of Glencoe to the west as you climb. An initial ascent is followed by a descent to cross the River Ba at Ba Bridge; another long and easy ascent is then followed by an equally easy descent to meet a public road near the Glencoe ski resort. A final stretch along current and old roads through grand scenery leads you to the Glencoe Mountain Resort where there will the opportunity to rest and relax, and get lots of photos with your Bloodwise medal!
Medium, please note that you will need to be fit and healthy and train to take part in this event. You will also need appropriate walking clothes to take part in the hike including hiking boots and all-weather clothing. Please note there will be a time limit on the event for healthy and safety reasons. All walker will be required to have a fully charged UK mobile phone on them during the hike.
Each year the team hike in costume to a different theme. 2015 was Ben Lomond as Elvis, in 2016 was the Devil's Staircase as Star Wars Characters. In 2017 the theme will be Charlie and The Chocolate Factory with WillyWonka leading the way followed by a large group of Oompa Loompa and sweets. Dress up is optional but encouraged and all walkers will receive a Bloodwise t-shirt.
There will be two buses leaving from Glasgow Central Station, Gordon Street entrance, at 7 am on the morning of the event and return at approximately 8 pm. The cost per head for a return on the bus is £12. If you are not travelling by our bus you will be responsible for your own transport to and from Glencoe. You can book the bus here
We are planning on stopping for lunch at the Inveroran Hotel where you can book an optional lunch of hot soup and sandwiches for £7.50. Please book and pay for your lunch ticket here
All participants will be asked to raise a minimum fundraising target of £100 and will receive a Bloodwise T-shirt (if requested), wristband, fundraising pack and ongoing support in the lead up to the challenge.
