Bloodwise and My Peak Challenge

05 Aug 2019

Founded by philanthropist and Outlander star Sam Heughan, My Peak Challenge (MPC) is a global campaign that inspires its members to live healthier, happier and more balanced lives whilst raising funds to change the lives of others.

This has entirely funded a clinical trial at the University of Oxford that is testing a hugely promising way to treat one of the most aggressive forms of blood cancer, acute myeloid leukaemia.

The continued dedication of the Peakers is now funding a research group at Newcastle University who are collaborating with scientists across the globe to help shape the way we treat childhood leukaemia. Blood cancer remains the most common cancer among children and young people in the UK, and chemotherapy remains incredibly toxic. No child should lose their childhood to years of brutal treatment, and the dedication of the Peakers is helping to prevent this.

How does it work?

Set a challenge, get ready and join.

My Peak Challenge is all about reaching outside of your comfort zone, finding something that you don’t think you can do, preparing for it and ultimately achieving it. All whilst helping others.

My Peak Challenge provides all members with access to a fully adaptable training and nutrition platform, including videos featuring Sam and person trainer John Valbonesi, to help you achieve your challenge. The three 90-day programmes on the course develop a foundation for creating mind, body and lifestyle improvements.

You are also joining an incredible global community – over 10,000 ‘Peakers’ from across 38 different countries, who are all supporting each other through their challenges. This also includes dedicated MPC staff, who are there to help encourage and support the Peakers.

Half of the My Peak Challenge membership fee is split between its chosen charities, including Bloodwise.

2019 has seen Peakers and the Bloodwise community do some incredible fundraising! From the Munro Step Challenge -where participants conquered Scotland’s 20 highest peaks (‘Munros’) wherever they were in the world by taking the equivalent number of steps. The start of 2019 saw one lucky fan win a glamorous date with Sam at the MPC Gala in March, in a campaign that raised an incredible $850,000 for Bloodwise. And in 2019, Sam hosted the largest ever MPC Gala! The weekend brought over 1,000 Peakers to Scotland to celebrate their monumental achievements, where Sam  – with assistance from a pipe band – led a march around Arthur’s Seat and hosted a Scottish banquet.

If you would like to join the incredible community of Peakers and raise money for Bloodwise whilst being part of a life-changing experience – for both you and all those you’re helping - you can find more information and sign up on the My Peak Challenge website.
