Leaving a gift in your Will: FAQS

24 Aug 2015

Making a Will can sometimes be confusing – and we know that our supporters often have questions about how the process works. Here we’ve answered some of the most common questions.

Do I have enough to leave a legacy?

Every gift left in a Will, no matter the size, is so important and we are grateful to everyone who chooses to support our work in this way. Gifts in Wills are absolutely vital for us to continue our work to change the lives of blood cancer patients, now and in the future.

I've included a gift in my Will, but your name has changed?

Thank you very much for including a gift to Bloodwise in your Will. You don’t need change your Will if you’ve left a gift to us using one of our previous names, Leukaemia Research Fund or Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Your generous gift is still valid and it’ll still reach us.

What basic information do I need to include?

The most important bits of information to include are our name, our address and our registered charity number:

Bloodwise, 39-40 Eagle Street, London WC1R 4TH

Registered charity 216032 (England & Wales) SC037529 (Scotland)

Do you have any suggested I could use to leave a gift to Bloodwise in my Will?

We do indeed:

“I give to BLOODWISE, of 39-40 Eagle Street, London, WC1R 4TH, Registered charity number 216032 (England & Wales) SC037529 (Scotland), [______% of my estate] or [the sum of £___________ ], to be used for general charitable purposes absolutely and I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or duly authorised officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.”

How do I leave a legacy?

Including a gift to Bloodwise in a Will is a straightforward, easy and cost-effective way to support our work. It simply involves adding a short paragraph (clause) to your Will. We’d always suggest that you use a qualified solicitor to assist you with this.
