Kirsty and I visited members of Lundie Theatre Group last Thursday. They have raised an amazing £3000 by selling their very own 'Calendar Girls' inspired calendar and performing the show last November.
They chose to support Leukaemia &Lymphoma Research as members of the group have been personally affected by blood cancers. Marie Dewar, who is secretary of the theatre group, lost her younger daughter to Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in 1994. Sadly her father was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia just a year later in 1995. Marie's father was able to live with it until April 2008 when, sadly, a skin cancer complicated his treatment. It is a charity close to the group’s heart. Marie says: "I know things are improving in terms of treatment and prognosis. Long may it continue."
Their 'Calendar Girls' calendar has been a roaring success with every single calendar sold! It was great to meet all the members and we are very grateful to all their support and effort that went into raising these vital funds.
Well Done to All!
