Over the past couple of months we’ve been involved in a number of schemes that have been introduced, and which our supporters can get involved in. Here’s a rundown of the schemes and ways you can get involved:

Shop and Save Lives

Sainsbury’s Everyday Shopping Card is a fantastic scheme which allows you to shop and saves lives from just doing your weekly shop. All you have to do is top up your Everyday Shopping card and spend in any Sainsbury’s store. For every pound you load onto your Sainsbury’s Everyday Shopping Card, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research will receive 4p.

'EMPTIES PLEASE' charity recycling scheme

Up here, in our North office we have been recycling our used ink cartridges for the last few months with the other businesses on our floor and the buildings cleaners all getting involved. We use ‘Empties Please’ who, for every ‘Original Branded’ INK cartridge ‘Empties Please’ will donate £1 and for every ‘Remanufactured / Compatible’ INK cartridge 50p.*

You can find out how to get involved here.

Bones for Bones Scheme

Butchers and farm shops across the UK are being invited to get involved with ‘Bones for Bones’ – a scheme started by Cheerbrook Farm Shop in Nantwich, whereby the shop’s butchery makes fresh bones available for customers to take home for their dogs in return for a small donation to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. As part of the regional team at Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, we’re in touch with local businesses and companies providing fantastic support for our charity, fundraising to help us in our mission to beat blood cancer.

Two of our corporate partners, Marks & Spencer Cheshire Oaks and Russell IPM Ltd, have recently celebrated completing their fundraising for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, and we’re delighted to share details with you below.

Marks & Spencer, Cheshire Oaks

The store based in Cheshire Oaks chose to support us as their ‘Charity of the Year’ in April 2014, and the staff have undertaken a fantastic range of activities to raise funds throughout the year. As well as the store supporting us throughout the year in store, also each month a different department raised money to help beat blood cancer, such as the Foods Department who took part in a sponsored zip slide event .

A couple of weeks ago I visited the store and was presented with the total raised – an amazing £21,629.29! Read more here.

Russell IPM Ltd

Directors of Russell IPM Ltd, Diana & Shakir Al-Zaidi, chose to support our charity after their grandson Callum was diagnosed with leukaemia. The company set a fundraising target of £100,000, and they’ve done a variety of activities to raise funds, including holding their own events, taking part in the charity’s events, staff donating from their salary, along with people from the local community getting involved in the support and fundraising.

Almost 5 years on, Callum is doing really well and the company have reached their fundraising target of £100,000 – an absolutely incredible achievement! Read more here.
