Take a look at some of our exciting upcoming events taking place in the Midlands in 2016!

With 2016 well and truly underway now, we’re looking forward to a busy and exciting year ahead here in the midlands. With plenty of walks, runs and cycle events to suit all ages and abilities, we wanted to let you know of a few up and coming:

Coventry Half Marathon – Sunday 28 February
We have ten places available in this fantastic event which consists of a single loop around Coventry City Centre and local countryside. Places are just £15 and you will receive a Bloodwise running top. All we ask is that you raise a minimum of £150 to help us beat blood cancer. Sign up here.

Mini Military Mud Run – Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 April
This fabulous race designed exclusively for children aged 4-16 challenges kids to take on distances of either 2K, 5K or 9K, tackling obstacles such as river crossings, clambering over hay bales and crawling through mud on route. This is the fourth time the event has been run in aid of Bloodwise and places are just £15 per child. Adults can run with their children for a donation of £5. Register here.

Round and About Walk – Saturday 30 April 2016
Ramble, Scramble or Amble across the Shropshire hills in this beautiful walk. Starting at Bishops Castle, participants have the option to walk 22.5 miles, 13 miles or 9.5 miles. The route crosses quite remote countryside some of which, notably the Walcott Estate, is not normally open to the public. Registration for this event will open on our website shortly.

Bromsgrove Fun Run – Sunday 8 May
Bromsgrove & District Branch are back with their 10k and 5k Fun Runs setting off from Bromsgrove Rugby Club with a BBQ, stalls and sports massages available. Entry is £12.50 for both 5K and 10K distances for non-affiliated runners and £11.50 for affiliated runners. Sign up here.

Rugby Bikeathon – June (tbc)
The ever popular Ruby Bikethon is back again for 2016. We’re still putting the final touches together for this event to make it the best it can be, but check back on our website soon for further details.

Isoman Triathlon – Sunday 2 July
Bloodwise are proud to be the official charity partner for the Isoman Triathlon 2016, taking place at Arrow Valley Country Park in Redditch. Take on the whole triathlon or just one of the individual disciplines – run, cycle or swim. For more information, click here.

The Natter Jack – Sunday 4 September
The 27 mile off road cycle event returns for its second year, challenging you to cycle from Ashbourne to Parsley Hay and back in the heart of Derbyshire. T-shirts and medals are awarded to all finishers. More information to be added to our website soon.

Golden Gate Gallop – September (tbc)
This annual 5 mile and 2 mile race takes place around the beautiful Elvaston Castle. Suitable for beginners and experienced runners alike, join our Derbyshire Branch and run to beat blood cancer. More information to be added to our website soon.
