Kind words

The kind words of strangers can really give you a boost

A while ago I updated my LinkedIn profile to say I was taking a break from work to fight off my illness, mainly to stop recruitment consultants from calling me. Today, I received this email from one of those dastardly agents:

"Dear Jane,

I am going through LinkedIn to find leads for my boss and saw your photo. I am sorry to hear that you are ill and wish you all the best in fighting off your illness as soon as possible. I was very ill a few years back but fought my way back to good health. It can seem a lonely place to be but keep smiling.

Wishing you all the very best for a speedy recovery,

All the best

Sarah"

Isn't that so lovely? I don't know Sarah, she just decided to send me this lovely message.

I've been featured on the Bloodwise Facebook page as blogger of the week a couple of times, and as a result I have received dozens and dozens of positive messages and words of support. So many that it's been impossible to respond to them all, but I would like to thank each and every one of them here. Words of encouragement and support, especially from those who have been through it, or who are sharing a similar experience, mean so much. I am very grateful for every message of support, and I like to reread them on days when it feels a bit tough, just to remind myself that I am not alone, others have got through it successfully, and I can too.

So, thanks everybody, and keep those positive messages coming.

Jane, you are never alone, especially now we have our Bloodwise family. Unfortunately Social media was in its infancy when I was ill, and I do wish that there were people I could have talked to then, but hey, now I hope that I can help others with a kind word, and to cheer them on as they go through treatment ☺
