Living with Follicular Lymphoma

I was diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma in March 2010, I was put on watch and wait for 6 years. in August 2016 i had to start chemotherapy as the lymphoma compromised my spleen. 6 rounds of R-Bendamustine and 2 years maintenance treatment, which I'm happy to say will be completed in December this year.

This year i wanted to give something back to help raise awareness of blood cancer, so I decided to do a walk, for me this was a huge achievement as i couldn't walk a 100 yards the year before. So i put on my walking boots and trained daily for 4 months. In April this year I walked 84 miles over the Hadrian's wall walkway over 4 days. This was made harder by having feet full of blisters by the second night and hip and groin pain. My last day almost brought me to my knees as i trekked the 30 miles from Chollerford to Wallsend. With only 5 miles to go i was about to give up as i was in so much pain, but i found the strength to carry on, I had fought the chemo i could fight through the pain to achieve my goal. I have raised £750 for Bloodwise and hope my donation can help in someway.
