My role as a Leukaemia & Lympoma Research Trustee

Since the death of my husband from lymphoma (which we knew was incurable), Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research has been hugely important to me. I wanted to do everything I can to defeat all blood cancers, and still do.

I first became a trustee on the retirement of the previous Scottish representative. I'll admit that at the time, I was a bit naive, and it simply seemed to be a way of deepening my involvement and was something interesting to do. It has certainly been both of these things, but much more besides! After some training sessions and meetings, which were pretty intensive at times, I feel so much more at the heart of things, able to look critically, to discuss, to participate in taking forward this very important organisation in its mission. And, of course, to bring a Scottish perspective to the proceedings!

I also feel I have an important role as an ambassador for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, representing it whenever I can, particularly north of the border. And, of course, I hope I always will be at the heart of fundraising with my very dedicated local Branch.
