I'm quite often prone to question my sanity, especially when my mouth commits the rest of me to do something .... questionable. So it was with my usual sense of resignation that I heard myself volunteering for this event again. Many of the more observant amongst you will recall my efforts last year when I completed the course in a blistering 9 hours 35 minutes. The old dear who finished behind me seemed annoyed at coming in 264th while I was actually quite pleased with 263rd. Very creditable I thought and it put her in her place.
A more recent time-trial came on 12th June when I set a fast pace at the start of the Wolverhampton to Aberdovey bike ride. Unfortunately I was unable to maintain my initial speed and it became an uphill struggle after those first 150 yards. Within a few miles I hit my first wall but luckily I was able to move on without being seen. Funnily enough I completed that ride in 9 hours 35 minutes too so although I'm rubbish at this cycling game, I am consistent.
Pass me my most padded shorts Jeeves, here we go again.
