A shaky start

Day -6 not quite how we had planned. An infected line - the tube embedded in your chest through which drugs are infused - gave me a raging temperature and shakes that would rival Elvis in his prime. Now removed I'll spend the weekend on antibiotics and await a new line on Monday. 3 day delay but infection is a bad idea when you have the less immunity than a new born baby.

Tonight's dinner was fillet steak with thrice cooked chips and bearnaise sauce. Then I woke up to discover a muller yoghurt and some left over Percy Pigs. You can't stop a chap dreaming.

If you've recently been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma and have yet to receive treatment you could be eligible to take part in a new clincial trial. Read more here.

Hi Mark,

Really sorry to hear about the infection in your Hickman line - what bad luck! This isn't uncommon but as you say it's not great news when you're immune system is so weak.

Good luck with having the new line added and fingers crossed you remain infection free!
