The anticipation is building

So the 100 mile London Bikeathon Epic challenge is almost upon us and the 8 of us taking part (Lee, Trevor, Daren, Keiran, James B, James M, Dave & Paul) have a few last minute tasks to complete and several questions to be answered:

To do:
1. Buy up of copious amounts of Torq gel, bars and drinks powder.
2. Find out the postcode of the hotel we’re staying at tomorrow night
3. Lay off the beer
4. Get on the carbs
5. Pack our kit bags
6. Ready the steeds

It all seems under control but there is work, children’s parties, traffic and early morning Keiran to deal with yet.

Our fundraising has been going well and we’re now over the £1200 mark with hopefully more to come! Our text code LLSX99 £3 to 70070 has been a great success, especially in the recent wave of ice bucket challenges. Every one of the team have now accepted and completed the challenge, including those often behind the scenes and the kids too!

Donations have also been coming in via other people who have been following our exploits including Sylvia Gaunt, who started the whole LLR journey with her mum many years ago when her sister sadly passed away, and friends of friends who have been sharing our link www.justgiving.com/llrteamessex

This week Lee & Daren were also interviewed on BBC Essex on the Drivetime show about our team and our plans moving forward. It was an enlightening experience and you certainly get thrown in at the deep end! The link to the interview is on our facebook page.

We’ve been overwhelmed by the support and now the pressure is really on. If you read our last blog you’ll now that for most of us this is the biggest distance we have ever cycled and for others returning from injury, this will be a massive test, but we will do it together and get to the end because we are #unstoppable.

So we’ll be busy readying ourselves in the next 24 hours. We’ll try to keep our twitter @llrteamessex and Facebook pages updated during the Bikeathon and thank you all for your support, be it moral or financial or both.

Good luck to everyone taking part in the Bikethon, whether that’s the 26, 52 or 100 mile route. Keep it rubber side down and fingers crossed for some decent riding weather.

See you at the finish
