week 1 bought a bike on a very wet and windy easter friday, thought that I should at least go for a ride so after 2 miles retuned to the car feeling pretty tired.
Thought better try again so on the easter saturday tried a short run but with a bigger hill again about 2 miles!
Easter sunday having researched a bike ride with my trainer along side, well mainly in front especially up hill set of on a 7 mile trip, nearly had a fit, needed several comfort breaks; note to self please carry phone with air ambulance on speed dial.
Easter monday trainer and others around me set off fo a mamouth 11 miler, still cant change gear very well and my legs spin round really fast while going no where. ' You know there is a technique' said a helpful friend on the 3rd comfort break. You know how to use the gears? well of course after all I had 3 faithfull sturmey archers on my old bike, and 5 on a claud butler bike which I nearly mastered some 45 years ago.
A few much needed days rest and now a gradual pattern going into week 2 and 3 of training about 8 miles per ride and trying to do 2 at least each week, cadence a new word which is begining to help no end, oh yes and the gears partially me and the need for a new chain which was discovered after my first blow out at high speed, thank you pearce's bikes for their promt help in sorting me out ready for week 3.
