Winterton and District Branch Three Year Anniversary

To each and everyone one of you that have supported us we cannot thank you enough.

Today marks the three year anniversary since the formation of the Winterton and District Branch following the success of our Leukaemia and Lymphoma Summer Project that raised £10,000 and our three day fundraising week in 2010 as school pupils raised that £2,500. Since then we have raised a further £43,500 as a branch raising a total of just under £56,000 to help beat blood cancer. A remarkable legacy in James' memory that enables his memory live on in our community - which for me is the true highlight of our work.

Over the last three years our fundraising team has grown and diversified and we are reaching more people each day. We have over 50 members of the team, 15 of which are part of our newly formed Local Youth Development Program. We have broadened our horizons in terms of the scale and quality of events that we deliver, having gone from small scale events in a school of 700 pupils to large scale events including Bungee Jumps, Family Fun Days, Fashion Shows, Talent Contests and so much more, all made possible due to the support commitment and dedication of our fundraising team.

We are not only supporting Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research but also the community through our vast array of events tailored to reach all members of the community, and the partnerships and support we provide to local businesses and organisations. Through creating partnerships with other organisations such as the Winterton Lions and Winterton Town Council we are able to host events for the community such as our annual Christmas Light Switch On, whilst events like this may not raise huge amounts of money they are key to our growth in terms of raising awareness. Other partnerships such as with Winterton Rangers have enabled us to raise large amounts of money whilst supporting a facility in our town that is need of support for its survival - all beneficial to our cause whilst supporting our local community.

It has been an incredible three years. It really is astounding as to how many groups of people, all ages, all walks of life are keen to support our work. I want to thank everyone that has supported us and believed in us because without you we couldn't achieve the things we do. I cannot put into words how proud I am of each individual that has been involved in our journey, we have achieved so much and I know that we will continue to do so.

I look forward to our exciting future ahead of us as we continue to peruse our mission 'to help Beat Blood Cancers whilst being an integral part of the community raising the profile of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research' whilst pushing towards our next financial target of £100,000 before the end of 2017!
