Because people in the UK should have the best chance of beating their blood cancer no matter who they are or where they live.
Our Action Plan
Thanks to breakthroughs funded by us and others, we are now at a point where, within a generation, no one should die as a result of their blood cancer.
As a result of all this progress, we know that lives could be saved now by ending the injustices that mean that people are more likely to die of their disease if they are poor, or from an ethnic minority or living in certain parts of the country.
We want to show where these differences in survival exist, and to understand what needs to change to make sure that survival for people with blood cancer in the UK is the same or better than the best in the world.
What is the UK Blood Cancer Action Plan?
The Action Plan will be a landmark policy report developed by people affected by blood cancer and experts. As a taskforce, this group will work with Blood Cancer UK to understand where differences in care and treatment affect survival and to make recommendations on how survival from blood cancer can be improved.
Who is the report for?
The main audiences for the report are those who are in positions to make decisions that can change the way care is delivered by healthcare professionals to people with blood cancer. This could be policy makers and decision makers in government and the NHS but also within the pharmaceutical industry and other charities.
Who is involved?
We have built a taskforce that includes clinical specialists with expertise in different blood cancer subtypes, nurse specialists, GPs, researchers, data experts and people who have experience of having blood cancer. We’ve also made sure that we have representatives from across the UK. The taskforce will advise on the direction, develop and review evidence, and make recommendations to improve survival from blood cancer.

Meet Scott
We asked Scott why he wanted to be involved in the UK Blood Cancer Action Plan Taskforce.
"I think it's so important that patients have a role in the Taskforce, which is why I'm honoured to be taking part, knowing our voices will be heard. I'm now in remission and on a treatment that wasn't available when I was diagnosed in 2019. The hope is that any new treatments will be developed and delivered to all patients, but this will only happen if we all have a say in our futures."
