Working with the pharmaceutical sector

Our charity works in partnership with pharmaceutical companies to help achieve our goal of beating blood cancer. Here you can read more about our approach to partnering with the pharmaceutical industry.

Researcher looking into a microscope

Our mission is to beat blood cancer, and we welcome partnerships and grant funding from the pharmaceutical sector that helps us get closer to achieving this. We follow a clear policy that guarantees we maintain our integrity and independence; we hold ourselves to a high standard and our community expects us to ensure all partnerships are consistent with our values.

A summary of our guiding principles

All partnerships, above all, must bring benefit to people with blood cancer. We will not allow the acceptance of funding or support from pharmaceutical companies to compromise our editorial independence or influence our decisions.

Any funding or joint activity must be compliant with the conditions of the ABPI Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry. Where a company is not a member of the ABPI we will require written assurances that any partnership work or support will be conducted to the ABPI Code of Practice.

Transparency is key, and we promise to declare all financial income from pharmaceutical companies on our website at the end of our financial year, including the total amount received from these companies. You can view these partnerships here. The total amount we receive from the industry in one year will not exceed 10% of our income, adhering to best practices amongst our sector.
